Medical Optometrist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Optometrist to join our Ophthalmology team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. This is a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to the delivery of high-quality care to our patients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with the ophthalmology team to deliver a comprehensive range of extended optometry services. This will include assessing patients of all ages and abilities, formulating individualized management and treatment plans, and referring to other clinical members of the Ophthalmology Specialty.

• Deliver high-quality optometry services to patients of all ages and abilities
• Work closely with the ophthalmology team to deliver a comprehensive range of extended optometry services
• Assess patients and formulate individualized management and treatment plans
• Refer to other clinical members of the Ophthalmology Specialty as necessary
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and carers
• Maintain accurate patient records
• Participate in training and teaching sessions

• Registration as an Optometrist with the General Optical Council
• MSc Degree or Postgraduate related qualification
• Independent prescriber
• Higher qualifications in glaucoma and other eye conditions
