This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Teaching Assistant for a pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEND) in our Early Years setting.

Job Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide learning and care support for a pupil with SEND. The successful candidate will work closely with the teacher to plan and deliver activities, and support the pupil with routines, transitions, and behavior management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build a positive relationship with the pupil, promoting high self-esteem, independence, and social inclusion.
  • Adapt communication style to respond to the pupil's individual needs.
  • Promote high standards of behavior, responding in line with the school's behavior policy and guidelines on physical intervention.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of individual education, support, and care plans.
  • Support the pupil with their social, emotional, and mental health needs, escalating concerns where appropriate.
Requirements
  • Teaching Assistant Level 2 Qualification.
  • GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and maths.
  • First-aid training, or willingness to complete it.
  • Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting.
  • Experience working with children/young people with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Experience planning and delivering learning activities.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of how to help adapt and deliver support to meet individual needs.
  • Subject and curriculum knowledge relevant to the role, and ability to apply this effectively in supporting teachers and pupils.
