As part of our growth plans, Occuity is seeking a Software Engineer to drive the development of diagnostic medical devices using novel optical methods. The applicant will work with scientists and engineers to design and develop software for device control, experiments, and clinical devices.

The role involves designing and implementing software control for prototype medical instruments, cameras, and detectors, and developing user-friendly interfaces. This includes defining software requirements and specifications, choosing technologies, software architecture, and programming languages. You'll work as part of a diverse team of engineers and scientists.

This opportunity offers full ownership of the software architecture and development, with the potential to work on novel data processing methodologies, neural networks, and AI applied to medical data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Writing and maintaining code specifications and requirements
  • Designing whole code platforms and architecture
  • Ensuring code integrity and documentation
  • Ensuring continuous development through automated testing
  • Developing and enforcing coding guidelines
  • Managing software release and versioning
  • Implementing control protocols for instruments and devices
  • Developing user-friendly control and display interfaces
  • Implementing data analysis and data processing protocols

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 1st or Honors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar
  • 2-4 years of experience in software development
  • Low-level programming language skills (C, C++) for embedded software and real-time hardware interface
  • High-level programming language skills (C#, Python) for control software and user interface
  • Version control using Git, SVN, or similar
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Test-driven software development
  • Agile software development
