About the Role

Woodlands Hospital, an Older Adults Mental Health In-patient Unit within Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, is seeking a Deputy Ward Manager to join their team. This vacancy is for a position on Holly Ward, which supports gentlemen with a diagnosis of dementia who require additional assessment and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide sound clinical interventions to service users and clinical leadership on a day-to-day, shift-to-shift basis for a group of staff in a designated clinical area.
  • Support and provide leadership to ward staff through on-the-job coaching, mentoring, audit, regular supervision, and ward-based training of less experienced staff.
  • Deputise for the ward manager as required and promote multi-disciplinary team working while leading predominantly on nursing issues and leadership.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the safety of patients, adhering to the Trust Risk Management Strategy.
Requirements
  • Post-registration experience at band 5.
  • Strong interest in developing management and leadership skills.
  • Passion for Older Adults Inpatient Mental Health.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the ward manager to develop and transform nursing care provision.
