Heavy Engineering Technician

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Engineering Technician to join our client's team in Lincoln. As a Grinding Operative, you will be responsible for operating cylindrical grinding machines and working on large components with precise tolerances.
This is a key role within the team, requiring someone who thrives in a fast-paced workshop environment. You will work closely with the team to meet production goals and ensure the smooth operation of equipment.
Salary and BenefitsThe successful candidate can expect a competitive salary based on skills and experience, ranging from £30,000 to £45,000 per annum. Additionally, you will receive 20 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing by one day with each year of service, up to 25 days.
A shift allowance is also included for working late shifts. The initial probation period is three months, during which time you will have the opportunity to assess whether this role is the right fit for you.
Job DescriptionAs a Heavy Engineering Technician, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Operating cylindrical grinding machines to achieve precise finishes.
- Handling large components safely using lifting and handling equipment.
- Reading engineering drawings and working to exact specifications.
- Inspecting and checking your work using precision tools like micrometres and callipers.
- Maintaining equipment and troubleshooting minor issues as needed.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Hands-on experience as a Grinding Operative.
- A proactive problem-solving approach and ability to work in a fast-paced workshop environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings with excellent attention to detail.
- Familiarity with health and safety procedures and knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
