Homeless Assistance Officer

We are seeking two experienced Homeless Officers to join our team at Wakefield Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and families.
Key Responsibilities:- Work as part of a duty team to assess the needs of homeless individuals and provide guidance on available options.
- Conduct thorough assessments to determine eligibility for homeless assistance and provide advice on preventing or delaying homelessness.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local stakeholders, including housing providers and voluntary organizations, to secure accommodation for applicants.
- Manage a caseload of homeless applications, ensuring timely and effective decision-making.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring that service users are fully informed and supported throughout the process.
- Recent experience working as a Homeless Officer in a local authority or housing association.
- Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal council systems.
- Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
- Valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
