About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Editor to join our team at The Lancet, a leading international medical journal. As a Senior Editor, you will be responsible for overseeing the creation and publication of original material for our online and print journals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordinating peer review of high-quality research papers to ensure the publication of accurate and impactful content.
  2. Commissioning engaging state-of-the-art reviews and commentaries to drive thought leadership in the medical community.
  3. Taking ownership of individual journal sections or projects to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  4. Developing and maintaining relationships with global experts to attract high-quality research for the journal.
  5. Writing editorials that define the journals' identities and showcase our commitment to excellence.
  6. Contributing to written content that showcases our expertise and thought leadership.
  7. Helping develop new initiatives for future growth and innovation in the journals.

Requirements

  1. Thorough knowledge of biological and medical sciences, with the ability to demonstrate expertise in a specific area.
  2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with external stakeholders, including medical and research professionals.
  3. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently to demanding press deadlines.
  4. Excellent command of the English language, with the ability to write in an engaging and interesting manner.
  5. Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to pick up IT systems rapidly.
