Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Support Worker for a young adult with complex medical needs. The ideal candidate will have experience working with people with disabilities, be adaptable, patient, reliable, and possess a strong sense of empathy and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, including bathing and dressing.
  • Assist with mobility, transfers/hoisting, and positioning.
  • Administer medication and feeds through PEGJ.
  • Support and assist the chest physio plans, which includes oropharyngeal suctioning.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and follow established protocols.
  • Maintain daily hard and soft copy records.
  • Engage in social interactions and recreational activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, including light housekeeping duties of the immediate work area.
  • Accompany and assist parents with appointments, outings, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with the individual, their family, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with disabled individuals with complex needs preferred, especially with young adults or teenagers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards caregiving.
  • Basic understanding of medical conditions and ability to follow care plans and instructions.
  • Flexibility to work primarily at night during the week and weekends, with day shifts also available, and cover holidays/sickness as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with the young adult and their family.
  • Integrity to maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
  • Full driving license and own transportation.

What We Offer

We offer full training for the right candidate, which will include administering medication, personal care, PEGJ feeding, oropharyngeal suctioning, mechanical ventilation, and emotional support throughout the night. Providing much-needed respite for the young adult's parents. This training will take place during the day and will be supported by the parents/Bespoke nurse and other involved teams.
