Energy Risk Consultant Role

AXA XL is seeking an experienced Energy Risk Consultant to join our team. As an Energy Risk Consultant, you will be responsible for executing the risk consulting strategy for the upstream energy team, aiming to optimize value-added support to the risk carrier and risk consulting services to clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oil and gas, drilling, and exploration specific risk reviews for underwriting through 3rd party information review, client and broker meetings, and claims reviews.
  • Support the engineering team in the broad energy transition portfolio, including carbon capture and other new technologies.
  • Meet with underwriters, brokers, and clients to discuss specific risk consulting solutions, helping clients to improve their risks while working towards a reduction of their carbon emissions.
  • Visit client sites to evaluate location and industry-specific risks and report findings in a structured way back to underwriting and the client.
  • Help the underwriting team to enhance their risk knowledge, select profitable clients, and reduce losses.
  • Work in compliance with our technical rules and guidelines, collaborating closely with regional and country managers.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues interested in learning about oil & gas and the energy transition, collaborating with the wider energy risk engineering teams.
  • Support the local claims team in understanding losses, leveraging in-depth industry knowledge.

Requirements

  • MEng in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical/Process Engineering.
  • Significant experience in oil and gas exploration and production, drilling, development, production operations, construction, and offshore renewables, or an equivalent risk consulting position.
  • Experience with projects and technologies involving Hydrogen, Carbon Capture & Storage, geothermal energy, or similar.
  • Interest in the energy transition and learning about new and emerging technologies.
  • Forward thinking, agile, and problem-solving approach to risk management.
  • Comfortable working autonomously, with good relationship skills and a great team player.
  • Fluent in English, with other languages a plus.
