About the Role

In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh seasonal produce, develop menus that meet the highest standards, and create a warm and welcoming environment in our kitchens. As a Second Chef, you will be responsible for managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence and assisting with menu development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations
  • Assist Head Chef in menu development, utilizing your knowledge of nutrition and creativity to craft delicious dishes
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome meals, cooked to the highest standards
  • Create a warm, efficient, and fun environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration
  • Work within budget to ensure financial stability and efficiency
  • Complete regular audits to maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene
  • Manage stock control to minimize waste and optimize inventory
Requirements
  • A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualifications in culinary arts
  • A good understanding of nutrition and ability to create nutritious menus
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food and creating a warm and welcoming environment
  • The ability to engage with residents to create appetizing and nutritious menus
  • Good understanding of HACCP principles

We offer a competitive salary of approximately £28,000 - £32,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
