Senior Highway Engineer Role Overview


Carrington West is seeking a highly skilled Senior Highway Engineer to join their Transport Strategy Team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainable growth, infrastructure, and highway improvements.



Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: As a Senior Engineer, you will supervise Engineers and Technicians, providing guidance and mentorship, and conducting performance reviews to ensure high standards.
  • Highway Approvals: You will manage technical approvals for highway works related to major projects like Sizewell C.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with local planning authorities, developers, and public stakeholders, representing the Highway Authority in meetings and on-site consultations.
  • Legal Agreements: Advise on Section 38 and 278 Highways Act agreements, ensuring compliance with layout, drainage, and construction standards.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure that all designs comply with CDM, Health and Safety legislation, and project standards.

Requirements

  • Degree Qualification: Degree (NVQ Level 6) or equivalent experience in Engineering.
  • Relevant Experience: Proven experience in highway design and knowledge of Section 38 and 278 agreements.

  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills with a commitment to sustainable transport.
  • Specialist Knowledge: Expertise in legal, policy, and technical aspects of planning and highway engineering.


The estimated salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
