About the Role

The Pennsylvania State University seeks a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Master Gardener Program in Somerset County. As the program coordinator, you will play a vital role in fostering sustainable horticulture practices within the community by collaborating with Master Gardeners and delivering impactful educational initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the program, representing it at various events and engagements.
  • Cultivate strong relationships between the program office and our dedicated volunteer network of Master Gardeners.
  • Develop and execute outreach strategies to connect with residents and promote gardening education opportunities.
  • Identify innovative revenue generation strategies to support the ongoing success of the program.
  • Conduct needs assessments to tailor educational content and maintain valuable partnerships within the community.
  • Leverage technology effectively for program management, communication, and data analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with affirmative action plans and promote a diverse and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Environmental Science, or a related field. Proven experience in volunteer management, leadership development, and community engagement is highly desirable. Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
