About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our team at Hypercube Consulting, a leading data and AI consulting company for the energy sector. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in helping our customers deliver more value from their data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with our expert data and analytics consultants to understand and define components of the data landscape and how it relates to the data strategy.
  • Translate end-user requirements into designs and delivery plans for effective data and analytics solutions.
  • Leverage open source and cloud platform technologies to deliver robust solutions.
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain data platform, analytics, AI, and machine learning tools for our customers.
  • Discover, analyze, and present findings to customers and stakeholders.
  • Build, maintain, and support data platform, machine learning, and AI solutions using the latest best practices in Data Engineering, MLOps, and ML Engineering.
  • Produce high-quality communications, documentation, and presentations of solutions for colleagues and customers.
  • Subject-matter expert and evangelist for data/machine learning engineering.
  • Contribute to Hypercube's blog and other outreach efforts.
  • Work with the business development team to shape and win new projects.
  • Help grow both our internal knowledge and skill sets as we scale.
Technical Skills

We are looking for candidates with hands-on experience in the following areas:

  • Python
  • SQL
  • Spark/Databricks
  • Data Lakes and associated storage technologies
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Additional experience with the following would be beneficial but not essential:

  • Apache Airflow/Prefect/Azure Data Factory
  • Containers and related services (AKS, Container Registry)
  • Kubernetes
  • Docker
  • CI/CD
  • Testing
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Ability to act as a driving force in a growing data and analytics consultancy.
  • Building projects or sharing knowledge in public – whether that be contributing to open source, blogging, YouTube, content creation, speaking at events, or similar.
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • Experience translating difficult business questions and designs of data solutions into action.
  • Analysis/requirements gathering, solution design, and implementation of data science solutions.
  • Experience in collaborating in multidisciplinary teams, including software engineers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams, data scientists, etc.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining a machine learning system and data pipelines in a production cloud environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal – able to translate complex technical subjects into easily understood presentations and written documentation for mixed technical audiences.
