We're seeking a highly skilled Principal Research Engineer - Fuel Feed Lead to join our team and contribute to the development of novel liquid hydrogen fuel systems for aerospace applications.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team in the design, development, and delivery of advanced fuel feed technologies for hydrogen propulsion systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborating with international teams and leveraging expertise in cryogenic equipment, fluid mechanics, and materials.
Key Responsibilities
The Principal Research Engineer - Fuel Feed Lead will be responsible for:
- Defining and delivering key programme milestones related to the hydrogen fuel feed sub-system
- Leading the development of system requirements through design into a validated physical product
- Supervising members of the engineering team and leading reviews of technical deliverables
- Supporting technology strategy development and providing insights on products, the state of the art, and key partners
- Actively participating in guiding and coaching others to grow and sustain a world-class research capability
About You
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering or Physics with significant content in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials
- Experience of planning and managing research projects
- Experience of product development lifecycle for cryogenic equipment, including concept definition, design/drawing development, and review
- Experience reviewing and approving designs, leading design reviews
- Experience in use of international standards, design practices, certification requirements, and means of compliance
Desirable:
- Higher degree in a relevant field
- Have, or are working towards, professional accreditation such as CEng
- An understanding or appreciation of cryogenic, hydrogen systems, and/or high/ultra-high vacuum systems would be advantageous
