About the Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Sweco UK, you will play a critical role in delivering water and waste management solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide mechanical engineering technical expertise to develop and deliver total expenditure (TOTEX) solutions for water and water recycling projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will lead the preparation and analysis of key mechanical options, ensuring risks and gaps are mitigated while upholding the Project Basis of Design.
  • Design calculations will facilitate the sizing of mechanical, hydraulic, power generating, and building services equipment.
  • Liaising with the supply chain will ensure the latest technologies are assessed and understood as part of the optioneering process.
  • Collaboration with the design team will result in the development of 3D models and solutions.
  • Overseeing outputs for various processes, including P&IDs and Data sheets, HAZID and HAZOP studies, and mechanical input into commissioning plans, including proposed performance tests.
  • Supporting the team in driving excellence in Health & Safety, demonstrating applied knowledge and skills to produce safe designs in accordance with CDM Regulations and standards.
About Your Skills and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have extensive practical mechanical design experience (ideally 8-10 years) in a similar environment. A proven track record of designing hydraulic and mechanical systems and products is essential, along with a good understanding of modular build and construction processes and procedures. Your broad knowledge of electrical control, instrumentation, and switchgear equipment and suppliers will enable you to make value-added suggestions and informed decisions in complex situations.

In terms of salary, we offer a competitive package of £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications. This includes a generous pension scheme, annual leave entitlement, and opportunities for professional development and career progression within the company.
