Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to join our team as a Senior Risk Management Director. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing operational risk management functions within the investment business unit. You will work closely with global business management leaders and various global business partners to identify, assess, monitor, and report on operational risk events. Your role will have a significant impact on mitigating potential risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting a risk culture awareness and proactive risk management across the global business unit.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic planning and leadership: Evolve the operational risk management strategy of the business unit; interface with our operational risk teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives and foster a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management throughout the business unit.
Risk mitigation and control: Coordinate with our 1st line Ops risk team. Lead and oversee risk assessments and evaluations to identify potential risks and ensure controls are embedded. Complete process reviews to identify vulnerabilities and oversee a comprehensive risk register and risk assessment documentation. Monitor the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and make recommendations for improvements. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and update and maintain internal policies and procedures related to operational risk management.
Reporting and communication: Present regular risk reports to senior management and, if needed, the board of directors or clients. Communicate risk management activities and findings to relevant stakeholders. Maintain effective communication channels to ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk.
Incident management and response: Coordinate the relevant departments to ensure timely and effective response to incidents. Facilitate the North America Investment related error process and globally oversee the incident management process, supporting investigation and resolution of risk events, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective action to prevent reoccurrence of incidents and facilitating global meetings to review events. Evaluate management information reports for trends and focus on continuous improvement to reduce risk in our trade cycle.
Training and development: Provide training and guidance to investment team members on operational risk management practices and policies for the business unit. Promote continuous learning and development of risk management skills within the business unit.
Change management: Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth transition and minimize risk during change events. Monitor and assess the impact of change on operational risk and adjust strategies as needed. Conduct risk assessments for new projects, systems, and processes before going live for the business unit. Identify potential risks associated with go-live and develop mitigation plans to address these risks. Coordinate with project teams to ensure all risk management activities are completed prior to go-live and ensure a successful implementation.
Support our business continuity plans, process, and event coordination.
May include supporting vendor risk management engagements and oversight.

Required Qualifications

Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Strong mathematical aptitude.
Team leader experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, risk management, or related work experience and have at least five years in a leadership role with a strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, methodologies, and tools.
Proven track record to successfully manage and mitigate operational risk in a global, complex organizational environment.
Experience in the financial services industry.
Understanding of regulatory compliance.
Audit experience.
Experience managing business continuity plans.
