Job Description

Role Overview

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist school setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work one-to-one with a pupil in KS3-KS4, providing individualized support to enhance their engagement with academic work and manage challenging behaviors.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement tailored plans to meet the pupil's needs, focusing on their social, emotional, and mental well-being.
  • Conduct regular observations and maintain accurate records of the pupil's progress, updating the teacher and contributing to the development of the pupil's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

Requirements

  • Hold a current and clear DBS or be willing to apply for one.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently, with a positive and enthusiastic approach to the role.
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviors and a commitment to providing a safe and supportive learning environment.
