Anaesthetics Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust as a Specialist Anaesthetist in Anaesthesia. The successful candidate will be based at Grantham Hospital and will be required to work in any of the Trust's locations or outreach district general hospital clinics.

The appointee will have duties providing anaesthesia for a range of surgical specialties and will be expected to provide out-of-hours service to the Critical Care Unit, including transferring critically ill patients to other hospitals.

The Specialist Anaesthetist will be responsible to the Lead Clinician in Anaesthesia and will be expected to be involved in the education of nursing and midwifery staff, Operating Department Practitioners, and other allied clinical professions as appropriate.

The appointee will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and for the proper functioning of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing anaesthesia for a range of surgical specialties
• Providing out-of-hours service to the Critical Care Unit
• Transferring critically ill patients to other hospitals
• Education and training of nursing and midwifery staff, Operating Department Practitioners, and other allied clinical professions

Requirements:

• Eligible for GMC registration at the time of shortlisting
• 2 years continuous recent experience of anaesthesia
• Experience and competency in transfer of critically ill patients

• ALS
• MB BS or equivalent
• PLAB or PLAB exemption
• Postgraduate qualification in anaesthesia
