Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our Multi Agency Psychological Support (MAPS) Service, working with children, young people, and young adults who are in/leaving care or are children in need. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions, working closely with our Hillingdon CAMHS team.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Offer advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to colleagues from all disciplines.
  2. Provide specialist clinical psychology/systemic/psychotherapeutic input to children, young people, foster carers, special guardians, adoptive parents, and their families, and young adults referred to the Staying Close project.
  3. Conduct specialist psychological and systemic assessments and therapy, including assessments for neurodevelopmental concerns.
  4. Support psychological/psychotherapeutic/systemic assessments and therapy provided by other professionals and offer supervision as agreed per job plan.
  5. Liaise with the Staying Close team (education, employment, nursing) and adult mental health services.
  6. Utilise research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research within the areas served by the services.
About the Role

The Multi Agency Psychological Support (MAPS) Service is a well-established team of psychologists providing services for children, young people, and young adults who are in/leaving care or are children in need. We work closely with the Hillingdon CAMHS team based at Minet Clinic, Uxbridge. The post holder may be required to travel to other parts of the catchment area, including community settings (e.g., schools).

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications
Essential
  • Postgraduate doctoral training in clinical psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, and lifespan developmental psychology.
  • Registration as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
Desirable
  • Pre/Post-qualification training in research methodology, staff training, or other applied psychology fields.
  • Experience in a CAMHS setting.
Desirable
  • Experience in teaching, training, supervision, and working with looked after children or vulnerable young adults.
  • Understanding and implementation of clinical governance mechanisms.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of evidence-based psychological/systemic therapies for specific difficult-to-treat groups.
