Job Title: Apprenticeship - Workshop Engineer

  2. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on industrial food processing and packaging machinery.
  3. Design and build control panels using mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components.
  4. Identify and troubleshoot electrical system faults.
  5. Design and implement small-scale electrical and pneumatic systems to meet customer requirements.
  6. Replace or retrofit machine parts as required.
  7. Strip down and repair existing machinery.
  8. Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently.
  9. Document and record machine information to keep all departments informed.
  10. Use software applications to create and edit documents and processes.
  11. Program drives using manufacturer software and settings.
  12. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  13. Collaborate with the stores team to ensure accurate booking-out of machine parts.
  14. Clean and prepare machinery parts for use.
  15. Work with various electrical systems, including single-phase, three-phase, and 24v.
  16. Support R&D projects to ensure they meet customer needs.
  17. Communicate with service engineers to resolve machinery queries.
Requirements:
  • NVQ level 2 in an engineering discipline.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic engineering.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft software applications.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • NVQ level 3 in an engineering discipline.
  • Level 3 BTEC in engineering or equivalent.
  • Apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • Forklift license.
  • Experience with drawing or programming software.
  • Experience with Solidworks, Rockwell Alan Bradley, and Omron software.
