Editorial Director - Financial Journalism

Real Deals Media Limited is seeking an experienced Editorial Director to lead its flagship private-equity title, Real Deals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial journalism, with a focus on private markets.

The successful candidate will oversee the daily rolling news output, commissioning features and selecting/repurposing content from the team. They will also coordinate with the commercial and commercial content team to publish quality sponsored content, while preserving the integrity of the editorial content.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing daily rolling news output, focusing on drawing proprietary, value-added spot stories and news analysis from the team.
  2. Overseeing the monthly magazine, commissioning features and selecting/repurposing content from the rolling digital output.
  3. Coordinating with the commercial and commercial content team to publish quality sponsored content.
  4. Mentoring and managing a team of talented journalists, both staff and freelancers.
  5. Developing and maintaining a network of senior people in the private-equity market.

Requirements include:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in business journalism, of which, minimum 2 years experience managing/editing.
  • Clear writing and editing ability, both short-form and long-form.
  • Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
  • Confident interviewing ability.
  • Ability to understand and translate complex topics.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
