Salary
£35-£50 per hour, depending on experience. This role offers a competitive salary, reflecting the importance of your contributions to our mission.
Job Description
As a Research Manager at MATs, you will play a vital role in supporting and guiding AI safety researchers, facilitating projects, and contributing to the overall success of our program. Your day-to-day work will involve talking to scholars and mentors to understand their needs and direction, providing feedback on papers, and ensuring that there are plans in place for project progression. You will also be responsible for managing and supporting AI safety research projects, facilitating communication and collaboration between scholars, mentors, and other collaborators, and organizing and leading research meetings.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in machine learning engineering, software engineering, or related technical fields. Experience in AI policy, coaching, or professional development would also be highly valued. A PhD or extensive academic research experience is preferred, as well as an entrepreneurial mindset and experience in building systems or infrastructure. Familiarity with AI safety concepts and the research landscape is essential, as is a strong alignment with our mission.
