Quantity Surveyor Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team in London. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing construction costs, negotiating with contractors, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Plan and organize work to meet project deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Reconcile tender costs with actual project costs and identify any additional works.
  • Liaise with site management to produce regular reporting and ensure accurate cost estimation.
  • Estimate and evaluate price work of operatives, make decisions on rate of pay, and submit variation costs to clients.
  • Operate the fortnightly wage process and identify additional works carried out not included within the subcontract.
  • Quantify and value materials on site, value prelims, and assist with projected final accounts and costs.
  • Assist with reporting on cash flow and provide commercial insights to support business decisions.
Requirements:
  • Excellent time-keeping and working to deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and ability to contribute to team meetings.
  • Able to build relationships with site operatives and negotiate sub-contractor pay.
  • Effective personal organizational skills and ability to adjust personal style to suit varying situations.
  • Literacy and advanced numeracy, with strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Commercial approach to work and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to work with people from different professional and trade backgrounds.
