Auction Internship Opportunity

Artnet Auctions, a leading online art marketplace, is seeking a talented intern to support our team in ensuring the success of our auctions platform. As an Auction Intern, you will play a crucial role in researching, cataloguing, and assessing artworks for sale, as well as providing support to our Business Administration team in their business development initiatives, pre-sale strategy, and post-sale analysis.

Responsibilities:
  • Cataloguing & Research
    • Assist specialists and associates in cataloguing lots for auction
    • Thoroughly research artists and artworks, and write detailed lot descriptions
    • Assist specialists and associates in assessing artwork condition and value
    • Photograph artworks and lightly retouch images in Photoshop
    • Work with administrators on any pre- and post-sale client needs
  • Business Development
    • Assist in conducting and compiling research on key clients and industries
    • Manage upkeep of department databases and trackers
    • Assist and facilitate staff on individual projects as necessary
Requirements:
  • Pursuing BA or higher in art history, English, or a related field
  • Background in art or art history
  • Knowledgeable in modern and contemporary art
  • Exceptional writing and research skills
  • Highly organized and able to balance multiple deadlines
  • Ability to meet goals quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
  • Comfortable with the PC platform, Microsoft Office, and data entry
  • Photoshop skills a plus, specifically light editing (e.g. correcting camera distortion, color correction)
  • Foreign language skills a plus
