Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the dispensary team at St Charles Hospital, ensuring the provision of a high-quality, efficient, and patient-focused dispensing service.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the day-to-day organisation of dispensing activities
  • Prioritise work, manage staff, and provide training
  • Act as a senior pharmacy technician, responsible for line managing some members of staff
  • Train and supervise staff when working in the dispensary
  • Act as an ACPT to provide a final-accuracy check of dispensed prescriptions
  • Participate in the dispensing of clinical trials in accordance with departmental SOPs
  • Identify daily and regular tasks that contribute to the smooth running of the dispensary
  • Support and participate in all dispensary activities
  • Supervise stock control in the dispensary, overseeing the daily order process
  • Participate in Saturday, late, and Bank Holiday rotas at St Charles hospital
  • Maintain an up-to-date CPD portfolio
  • Participate in the Trust individual staff development reviews
  • Participate in regular pharmacy technician team meetings

Requirements:

  • BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
  • Final Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy, education, and training of pharmacy staff
  • Portfolio demonstrating competency of previous and current pharmacy practice skills, knowledge, and CPD

Desirable:

  • Liaison within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of psychotropic drug therapy
  • Experience working within mental health services
  • Familiar with clozapine dispensing and supply services

  • Good organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to use initiative to solve problems
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills (written and oral)
  • Good time management skills

Working Arrangements:

  • Self-motivated
  • Evidence of CPD and acquiring new skills & knowledge
  • Understanding Confidentiality and the Data Protection Act
  • Able to work weekends, late duties, and Bank Holidays on rotation
