Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Professional Risk Underwriter to join our team in the United States. This role will achieve income and profit objectives through the delivery of an efficient case underwriting service to brokers.

The successful candidate will have experience in underwriting and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate flexibly and appropriately. They will also possess a range of influencing and negotiation approaches, risk perception and selection skills, as well as pricing of risk accordingly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service existing business whilst writing within risk selection, appetite and authority
  • Achieve bottom line, top line and expense targets by managing and operating to the key performer indicators of the region
  • Enhance Arch's standing and presence locally by establishing and maintaining strong personal relationships with key directors and staff at the region's most important brokers
  • Display strong negotiation skills that aide conversion and relationships with our key brokers
Requirements and Skills
  • Ideally experience in underwriting
  • Proven broker relationships
  • Proven track record in underwriting
  • Ability to negotiate flexibly and appropriately
  • Demonstrates a range of influencing and negotiation approaches
  • Risk perception/risk selection skills
  • Pricing of risk accordingly
Qualifications
  • Minimum A level standard preferred
  • Professional certification - progress towards ACII preferred

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience

Experience

The job holder will ideally have experience in the commercial insurance industry, strong interpersonal skills and work in a structured, organised and planned manner.
