About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Nottinghamshire. As an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in our project team, contributing to a wide range of construction projects across the UK and Europe.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing designs, calculations, specifications, and tender documentation for mechanical services as part of a project team
  • Staying up-to-date with regulations and standards, including future changes
  • Understanding thermal modeling SAP and SBEM
  • Conducting feasibility studies, preparing detailed budget costs, and defined estimates if required
  • Delivering regulatory obligations associated with Building Regulations Part L and BREEAM
  • Collaborating with electrical, energy, and Part L engineers to develop low-energy design solutions
  • Attending design team and project meetings, supervising junior staff on a day-to-day basis
  • Preparing specifications, equipment schedules, drawings, and information to installation and fully coordinated standards (RIBA Stage 5)
  • Carrying out site quality and legislative inspections, preparing associated reports
  • Delivering exceptional technical and commercial solutions, preparing technical reports, specifications, contract documents, etc.
  • Liaising directly with clients and contractors

About You

We are looking for a forward-thinking individual with:

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical building services design
  • Design consultant or contractor background
  • Significant experience in mechanical building services/HVAC design (domestic water services, ventilation, heating, cooling, renewables, and sustainability)
  • Hands-on knowledge and understanding of TAS, Cymap, and AutoCAD
  • Experience in general mechanical building engineering services
  • HNC in a relevant building services subject
  • Ability to work as a team player, but also operate independently
  • UK full driving license
  • Good experience in mechanical detail design and performance design

Desirable:

  • Chartered Engineer (MCIBSE) status or working towards it
  • Degree in a relevant building services subject
  • Experience in using Revit MED or Magicad
  • Good organizational and time management skills, able to manage projects, outputs, and work within deadlines
  • Proven experience in working with, assisting, and managing junior staff
  • Experience in the building services design environment, some SAP and/or SBEM experience, and LZC reporting would be advantageous
