Job Title: Instructor/Trainer - Control and Instrumentation (C&I)

AWE is seeking a qualified engineer to join its team responsible for delivering control and instrumentation training to apprentices.

C&I is a critical role within the business, requiring maintenance, installation, and design of C&I systems. This team of engineers is essential for modern facilities in construction at AWE, and their expertise in PLC and sensor control is a scarce resource in the UK.

Location: Reading / Basingstoke area

Salary: £45,250 - £46,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the Role:
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate training in practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours for control and instrumentation apprentices.
  • Optimise, organise, develop, and deliver skills and underpinning knowledge training for allocated apprentices, including reviewing and maintaining course files, syllabi, and schemes of work.
  • Have or be willing to obtain teacher and assessor status and maintain it via continued professional development activity.
  • Work as part of the Skills Academy team to ensure that defined company and national contracted requirements for development are met.
  • Assure, assess, and/or instruct apprentices' skills, knowledge, and behaviours, including during work-based learning.
  • Line manage apprentices, including company performance management process and identify and address development needs and assessment using recognised company and academy processes.
  • Lead a team of approximately 12 direct reports.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven presentation skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to be understood by a range of audiences, from new apprentices to senior management within AWE.
  • Good influencing skills to ensure the appropriate learning opportunities and development of individuals.
  • Extensive experience in an engineering environment.

Candidates must hold a qualified engineering background with experience in control and instrumentation maintenance and installation. They should also be able to demonstrate strong presentation, communication, and influencing skills.
