The Role

We are seeking an Assistant Designer with a feminine handwriting to join our Design team, based at our Head Office. Working closely with your Buyer and the Senior Design team, you will produce designs that deliver the key trends of the season, making sense of fashion for our customer, in line with our signature relaxed glamour ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret current and future trends for our jersey range, applying a feminine handwriting
  • Keep abreast of relevant trends and share ideas and inspirational references with the team
  • Visit inspirational shops, markets, and fabric and yarn fairs to research and progress relevant ideas for product development
  • Collaborate with our in-house print and textile experts to source new suppliers and samples
  • Continually shop for new shapes, trims, and ideas, with a strong commercial awareness of key competitors
  • Spec designs to a high standard and work with your Buyer to ensure accurate interpretation and sample delivery
  • Review fit samples with your Buyer and Technologist, proactively resolving any issues and ensuring we meet our critical path
  • Review the range with your Buyer to ensure choice and newness is offered, as well as identifying and addressing missed opportunities
  • Present to the wider Design and Buying teams each season, ensuring a compelling picture of the design and product vision for your area

Requirements

  • Proven experience at a similar level in a fashion business and strong technical Design expertise, including skill in graphics
  • Authentic creative passion and eye, with an affinity for our signature 'relaxed glamour' ethos
  • Fantastic knowledge of cut and sew jersey, soft fabrications, and trims, with innovative ideas around ways to use trims and mix fabrications
  • Ability to demonstrate hand-drawn designs, as well as CAD, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize workload to meet high standards
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas and designs
  • Great colleague skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and expertise with others
  • Resilience in working at pace, adapting to change, and open to constructive feedback
