Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Engineering Lead to join our team at EMBS Engineering. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing complex engineering projects from concept to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Planning and Management: Plan and distribute work across the team, in conjunction with the Commercial Manager, to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
  2. NPI Management: Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) - reporting of First Time Through and Right First Time progress, and coordinating activities by others to enable nominated NPI commitments to be met.
  3. Works Order Production: Produce Works Orders, including setting up a new Bill of Material, setting up Sales Orders, production of routings through MRP, raising Works Orders through MRP, production of 'First Time Through' sheet, and Risk Assessment.
  4. Problem-Solving: Competence in 8D, 5 Why, and other problem-solving techniques to support both the department and company development.
  5. Engineering Data Management: Establish a comprehensive and documented set of Engineering data to control and improve the performance of Quality, Cost, and Delivery in line with required targets and standards.
  6. Team Leadership: Lead the Engineering Team to deliver products on time, within budget, and right first time.
  7. Bid/No Bid Process: Support the Bid/No Bid process to ensure alignment of new product to business capability and strategy.
  8. Commercial Analysis: Support commercial analysis, testing, and development of company cost and commercial models.
  9. Staff Development: Support training and development of staff.

Person Specification:

  1. Experience: Proven experience as a Project Manager or Engineering Lead, operating within the precision engineering or advanced manufacturing sectors.
  2. Skills: Excellent project management skills, well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in use of Project Management software, including MRP/ERP. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
  3. Qualifications: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to retain thought and remain rational and composed under pressure. Ambitious with a willingness to strive for success and progression.
