Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at NP Aerospace. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems for military vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems that meet the needs of efficient and effective manufacture / assembly and ongoing supportability
  • Recognise the need for engineering change and raise engineering change requests as appropriate
  • Undertake problem solving of design and product issues to resolve functional issues as they arise throughout the development and service lifecycle
  • Interact with production and quality teams to investigate and obtain any necessary corrective action data
  • Support prototype system design and build
  • Input into the definition of V&V activity to support validation of Electrical Systems & components
Requirements:
  • Proven track record of successful involvement in design & development projects – inception to launch
  • Suitable experience in a Design office using 3D CAD software, which must include SolidWorks and Pro Engineer CREO 6
  • Experience using PLM software, preferably EPDM and Windchill
  • Full understanding of engineering drawings and design standards, to BS8888
  • Familiarity with Armoured Vehicle electrical sub-systems
  • Familiarity with configuration control and change management (Def Stan
  • Experience in compiling Design FMEAs
  • Experience of robust engineering practices including technical risk management
  • Proficient user of MS Office software
  • Previous experience in the design and development of military vehicles or their sub-systems
  • Alternatively, experience within an aerospace or defence environment
