Job Title: Environmental Sustainability Coordinator

About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to join our team at Staffordshire County Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and motivating a team to maximise the quality and number of materials separated for recycling.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate a team to maximise the quality and number of materials separated for recycling.
  • Use IT systems and Microsoft Office software.
  • Help the public use the site safely, following Health and Safety guidance.
  • Be the accountable fire marshal and first aid responder.
  • Work with commercial traders, providing advice and handling payments.
  • Report unauthorised waste depositing and promote environmental sustainability.
  • Support other HWRC teams as part of the Staffordshire HWRC Network.


The Ideal Candidate
  • Have a Certificate of technical competence in Hazardous Waste Transfer.
  • Have experience leading a team.
  • Have working knowledge of health and safety legislation and operations.
  • Be flexible and willing to learn.
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have strong numerical and literacy skills, and paperwork and recording skills.
  • Have an understanding of recycling and recyclable materials.
  • Be a trained First Aider.
  • Have a Full UK driving licence.
  • Have experience operating heavy machinery.
  • Have experience in the operation of Household Waste Recycling Centres.
  • Have good attention to detail.
