About the Role

Azenta Life Sciences is a global leader in the life sciences space, with a presence in Burlington, MA, and operations worldwide. We are a market leader in automated bio sample management solutions and genomic services, serving top pharmaceutical, biotech, academic, and healthcare institutions globally.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Electrical Engineer, responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating electronic systems and components for our hardware and systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including block diagrams and schematics, to meet project requirements.
  • Specify and select commercial electronics subsystems, boards, and components, ensuring compatibility and performance.
  • Prepare robotics and automation systems for online operation, including motor parameter selection, tuning, and current limits.
  • Design and implement test setups for component, board, and subsystem level testing and qualification.
  • Prototype, test, troubleshoot, debug, and qualify electrical subsystems, components, and cables.
  • Perform failure mode analysis and provide support to field service.
  • Develop documentation, including schematics, diagrams, BOMs, test procedures, and other relevant materials.
  • Advocate for electrical needs and negotiate trade-offs with other engineering disciplines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience with a product life cycle, from concept to production, as a key contributor.
  • Troubleshooting skills with PC and embedded software-controlled equipment, low and medium power electronics.
  • Knowledge and expertise with cable and wire layout and management.
  • CAD software skills for cables, harness, and circuit design.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change Order processes and documentation.
  • Regulatory compliance experience for equipment, such as safety, emission, and immunity.
  • Ability to design simple circuits and update complex schematics/designs.
  • Experience in PCB schematic/layout using Altium Designer, ORCAD, or similar.
Working Conditions
  • Typical office environment with a hybrid work model.
  • Occasional travel may be required (anticipated to be around 10%).
