Job Title: Compliance & Payroll Manager

Our client, a rapidly growing business with a strong presence in the UK, Ireland, and USA, is seeking an experienced Compliance & Payroll Manager to join their Finance and People teams.

The Role:
  • Manage the monthly payroll processing for over 850 employees across various payrolls, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to HMRC.
  • Drive operational best practices to optimize payroll processing with third-party providers, ensuring deadlines are met and risks are mitigated.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to define and implement checks for payroll calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Stay up-to-date on all relevant legislation, suggesting process improvements and ensuring compliance with HMRC obligations.
  • Manage the reconciliation of key payroll data, including benefits and third-party providers, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
  • Work closely with the People Team to administer and manage pension schemes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the administration of company benefits schemes, including Cycle to Work, and maintain accurate records.
  • Support the preparation of gender pay gap reporting and ensure compliance with future developments in pay gap reporting.
  • Deliver accurate reconciliation and data analysis to support reporting, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Payroll professional, with expertise in process and legislation around pay.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE and understanding of HMRC benefits.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with third-party payroll providers, pension providers, and external reward firms.
  • Previous experience working in a retail-focused business.
