Job Overview
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Chief Cardiac Physiologist/Cardiac Clinical Scientist to join our dynamic team in the Cardiac Investigations unit.
The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking advanced physiological tests on adult patients, providing accurate reports, and maintaining clinical knowledge and expertise.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking a range of advanced physiological tests on adult patients to aid in clinical diagnosis.
- Maintaining the clinical knowledge and expertise to escalate significant findings and advise clinicians accordingly.
- Being responsible and accountable for the day-to-day provision of high-quality care within the department.
- Assisting in delivering assessments, training, and clinical supervision in all areas of cardiac physiology to members of physiology staff and students.
- Supporting the education of cardiac content to trainees from various non-physiology disciplines.
- Leading clinical audit to improve the services delivered by the department.
- Engaging in internal and external education to reinforce and further develop clinical knowledge.
- Contributing towards quality improvement initiatives across the department, including implementing and maintaining trust policies, and embracing new technologies.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
- Demonstrate a good command of the English Language both written and verbal.
- BSc Clinical Physiology (or equivalent).
- RCCP/HCPC registration.
Desirable Criteria
- MSc in relevant cardiac discipline.
- BSE accreditation.
- Cardiac Physiology equivalence to Clinical Scientist registration.
- Clinical experience relevant to role.
Experience & Knowledge
Essential Criteria
- Minimum of three years previous experience in cath lab and echocardiography.
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for the professional profile.
- Perform and interpret basic cardiac investigations.
- Experience of staff supervision and mentorship.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience of clinical audit and appraisals.
- Involvement in project team for developing and implementing departmental business cases and/or organisation-wide developments.
General Skills
Essential Criteria
- Team player.
- Computer literate.
- Highly specialised clinical skills appropriate to the relevant specialty.
Desirable Criteria
- Confident in gathering and analysing data.
- Previous experience in stock management.
