Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom Shropshire Homes Full time

About Shropshire Homes

Established in 1981, Shropshire Homes has successfully developed approximately 3,000 residences and has seen significant growth, achieving a turnover of £50 million while constructing around 200 homes annually. Based near Shrewsbury, the company operates across Shropshire and neighboring regions, concentrating on delivering high-quality residences in desirable locations. Shropshire Homes engages in diverse projects, ranging from exclusive developments of 4 and 5-bedroom detached houses to premium apartments and extensive projects featuring a variety of housing types.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated individual to support our Services and Agreements Manager in the acquisition of new mains services projects and the coordination of service diversions. This role involves securing road and sewer adoption agreements and ensuring the subsequent acceptance of this infrastructure by local highway and drainage authorities. The successful candidate will also facilitate traffic management for new developments and assist with the delivery of new service connections, as well as the effective management of public open spaces for future maintenance by local authorities or management companies.

Key Responsibilities

This is a permanent position where prior experience is beneficial, but comprehensive training will be provided. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Gathering existing services data and aiding in the creation of drawings to evaluate the impact of current services on new developments.
  • Acquiring budget estimates for new services and the diversion of existing services to support land acquisition budgeting.
  • Requesting detailed mains service and diversion quotations, including designs for use in the preparation of construction site budgets.
  • Creating drawings to facilitate the installation of ducting for new highway construction.
  • Assisting project technicians in obtaining highway and drainage approvals and securing formal legal agreements from relevant authorities for new site infrastructure delivery.
  • Coordinating new street lighting schemes and cost estimates for site budget preparation.
  • Conducting site inspections with highway and drainage authorities to support highway and drainage adoption processes.
  • Participating in meetings with statutory service providers before infrastructure commencement to ensure timely mains service delivery and connections.
  • Inspecting public open spaces to verify compliance with approved planting schemes prior to handover to local authorities or management companies.
  • Performing general administrative tasks to support the role and the Technical Department as needed.

You may also be required to undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by the organization in connection with this role.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to succeed.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to providing excellent service.
  • Well-organized and capable of working independently; experience in a team-oriented service role is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with project management is beneficial but not mandatory, as full training will be provided.
  • Effective communicator, approachable, and polite, able to interact across all organizational levels.
  • A background in construction is helpful but not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • A construction-related qualification or progress towards one is advantageous but not required, as full training will be provided.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.

Candidate Profile

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing local housing developer. We are looking for the right individual to join our Technical team and adhere to Shropshire Homes' standards in producing and managing technical information while liaising with external parties, local authorities, drainage authorities, highway authorities, and both internal and external customers.

The ideal candidate will be communicative and honest in their approach, and we welcome innovative ideas and constructive challenges.

In return, we offer comprehensive training as needed, or the opportunity to enhance existing skills, along with an attractive compensation package and, most importantly, the chance to contribute to building the communities of the future.
