Pension Scheme Administration Role

The role of a Pension Scheme Administrator at Broadstone involves providing day-to-day administration services to clients entering the Pension Protection Fund (PPF). As a key member of the PPF administration team, you will be responsible for ensuring that administration services are provided to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the main point of contact for allocated PPF clients and ensure that day-to-day administration services are provided to a high standard.
  • Carry out routine administration services for other PPF clients as requested by Senior Administrators, Team Leaders, Pensions Manager, and Pensions Director.
  • Maintain membership records on the administration system, calculate benefits for members, and set up new members on the system.
  • Sort and file client documentation, enter jobs received onto the work log system, and deal with general queries from members, the PPF, and trustees.
  • Monitor target due dates to ensure service level agreements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met for PPF clients.
  • Record all PPF client events and time cost work undertaken for billing.
  • Ensure that all work that leaves the team is of a high standard and adhere to the Trust-Based Pensions Administration Procedures Manual, PPF technical guides, and procedure notes.

Technical Knowledge and Professional Qualifications

Key Skills

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work on own as well as a member of a team.
  • Sound understanding of current pensions legislation.
  • Highly numerate, accurate, and literate.
  • Analytical and numerical ability – able to analyse, evaluate, and interpret data.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and deal with any urgent issues that arise.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to manage own work within strict deadlines.

Requirements

  • Educated to A level standard.
  • Experience carrying out a similar role with a Third-Party Administrator or In-house occupational pension scheme.

Recommendations

  • Studying towards APMI or similar PMI examinations.
  • Previous or some working knowledge of PPF processes an advantage but not necessary (full training will be provided).

  • Achieve a good standard of ethical behaviour, do the right thing at all times.
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards.
  • Comply with the FCA's requirements in relation to the Senior Managers & Certification Regime, Treating Customers Fairly, and the new Consumer Duty.
