About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tutoring Specialist to join our team at Sense College, working with students with Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering effective learning programmes for small groups of SEND students aged 16-19. This includes planning and leading on areas of the curriculum, carrying out specialist assessments, and providing mentoring support to new and developing members of the education team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver tailored learning programmes to meet the needs of each student.
  • Lead on curriculum development, ensuring it remains up-to-date and relevant.
  • Conduct specialist assessments to determine key learning aims for students.
  • Provide mentoring support to colleagues, promoting their professional growth and development.
  • Deliver training sessions to staff, enhancing their knowledge and skills in specialist teaching strategies.
  • Represent the college at various events, including EHCP reviews and transition days.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • A Higher Level Teaching Qualification, such as a Certificate in Education or PGCE.
  • An in-depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and EHCP process.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Ability to identify barriers to learning and develop targeted solutions.
  • Knowledge of specialist teaching strategies and experience in delivering person-centred learning programmes.
