Specialist Teaching Assistant

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at the Polaris Community. As a Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing one-to-one support to a pupil or a small group of pupils, promoting their emotional and academic well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons and provide individualized support to pupils as needed.
- Report on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaise with other School staff to ensure pupils' needs are met.
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips.
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation, and set work where appropriate.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes.
Requirements
- A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills.
- Flexibility and a growth mindset.
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant.
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting.
- Experience of behaviour management and techniques.
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work.
