Mechanical Technologist

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Equipment Specialist to join our client's multi-disciplinary team. This hands-on role involves diagnosing and resolving mechanical breakdowns, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring operational efficiency across the site.
The successful candidate will work 12-hour day shifts, supporting the shift management teams in production and engineering to meet key safety, quality, and production objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reporting directly to the Engineering Team Leader on all matters related to plant and equipment.
- Conducting both planned and reactive maintenance on a variety of machinery and plant systems.
- Prioritizing and managing tasks efficiently, independently or under the direction of the Team Leader, Section Engineer, or Shift Manager.
- Collaborating in developing maintenance practices and procedures to improve plant operations.
- Utilizing CMMS to log work completed, track parts usage, and keep the team informed of any issues.
- Ensuring all systems comply with legal requirements, maintaining accurate records.
- Assisting in training and developing team members while deputizing for the Team Leader as required.
- Participating in plant improvement projects and assisting with risk assessments and work permits.
A recognized mechanical engineering apprenticeship (HNC preferred, minimum ONC or equivalent) is required, along with expertise in industrial systems, strong problem-solving skills, experience with permit systems and compliance protocols, and a self-motivated approach to leading a small team and working effectively with cross-functional groups.
The estimated salary for this role is £41,000 per annum, including shift allowance.
