About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Building Services Engineer to join our team, providing engineering support services to West Midlands Police's built estate. This role involves both practical engineering support and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a comprehensive building and engineering record library to support the estates strategy and existing estate, including administering Building Information Modelling (BIM) data and systems.
  • Receive and incorporate engineering documents, drawings, and BIM models into the property library for access by others, maintaining quality and integrity of the library stock.
  • Support construction projects by visiting sites to inspect Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) works, ensuring installed equipment matches records and workmanship is satisfactory. Witness installation testing and commissioning, resolving or escalating problems found.
  • Assist project officers and colleagues with problem solving, progress reporting, and provision of models, data, and record keeping, as agreed.
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to WMP's Health and Safety (H&S) and security policies, including issuing permits to work, developing risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and reviewing 3rd party RAMS.
  • Maintain full and accurate records relating to H&S, equipment quality checks, testing, commissioning, and in-use servicing.
  • Manage minor engineering works, including specification, procurement, and delivery within budget and timeframe.
  • Create and modify CAD drawings as required, with training provided if needed.
  • Support engineering activities in the existing estate, including contract management of one or more maintenance services.
  • Assist with or be responsible for engineering-related administrative activities, such as contractor vetting, compliance monitoring, Building Management System (BMS) monitoring, and data collection.
  • Continuing professional development, including acquiring new skills and experience.
  • Work professionally and positively, maintaining personal integrity, and upholding the Force's commitment to diversity and fairness.
  • Technical and practical knowledge of various building services.
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications (Office, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to sites within the Force area and physical capacity to safely attend and move around construction sites.
  • Eyesight sufficient for visual inspection of work on construction sites.
  • A knowledge of BIM.
  • Basic proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Familiarity with quality procedures in the construction industry.

Working Arrangements:

This role offers a competitive salary of £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
