We are recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Lead to join our dynamic team in Adlington or Sunderland. This permanent role involves managing large composite models, equipment interfaces, and top-level assemblies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead design efforts using AutoCAD, Solid Edge, Inventor, and Tekla for site layouts, parts, assemblies, and technical documentation.
  • Manage design standardisation, aiming for 80% reuse and 20% new designs.
  • Oversee design team activities and co-ordinate third-party design work.
  • Collaborate in client-facing meetings and lead minor study works.
  • Conduct mechanical and structural model interface checks.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (BS, ISO, CE/UKCA, ATEX).

Requirements
  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering with a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Experience in bulk material handling and heavy engineering design.
  • Proficient in 3D drawing packages (Solid Edge, Inventor, AutoCAD) and knowledgeable in design/drawing standards.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, medium to heavy fabrication, and risk assessments.
  • Experience in value engineering and continuous improvement processes.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to travel as needed.

The salary for this role is approximately £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.
