Financial Director Position

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to take on the role of Financial Director at Altimist Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading our financial planning and reporting efforts, as well as managing our treasury and finance operations.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Financial Planning and Reporting:
    • Develop and oversee annual budgets and financial forecasts for the company.
    • Manage shadow net asset value (NAV) calculations, investor reporting, and fund performance analysis.
    • Liaise with external auditors to ensure successful completion of fund audits.
    • Supervise capital activity reporting (subscriptions, redemptions, distributions).
    • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports highlighting key trends, results, and forecasts.
  • Treasury and Finance Operations:
    • Manage all core accounting functions including accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
    • Establish and maintain strong internal controls documenting key business processes and accounting policies.
    • Manage relationships with banks, the fund administrator, and accountants.
    • Optimise cash management processes, including FX hedging and margin requirements.
  • Regulatory Financial Compliance and Taxation:
    • Ensure finance-related compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g. FCA, HMRC, or other regional authorities).
    • Manage the preparation and submission of tax filings coordinating with tax advisors to optimise tax efficiency.
    • Collaborate with the accounting firm and other stakeholders to prepare and submit annual accounts, tax returns, and any other filing requirements.
    • Oversee payroll processing, including pensions, HMRC filings, and other related functions to ensure full compliance.

Salary: £100,000 - £150,000 per annum.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification required.
  • Experience within a hedge fund or similar industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, capital, and liquidity management, and regulatory reporting.
  • Strong proficiency in financial management software and systems, including Xero, Excel, etc.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, including external accountants, auditors, and financial advisors.
  • High degree of integrity, ethics, and professionalism with a commitment to financial transparency and accountability.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment with a strong sense of initiative.
