Polaris Children's Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Care Experienced Mentor to join our team. As a Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people through their transition periods, providing guidance, and promoting positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Support identified children and young people before, during, and after their transition period to foster care, tailoring your approach to their unique needs and understanding.
- Act as a positive role model, sharing your experiences and learning to help children and young people navigate their journey.
- Facilitate regular contact with children and young people, including face-to-face and telephone interactions, to ensure their needs are met.
- Collaborate with a professional network, including foster carers, social workers, and schools, to advocate for the child's or young person's wishes and feelings.
- Engage in ongoing learning and development to enhance your skills and knowledge as a peer mentor.
- Work in a hybrid model, with a mix of home and office-based work, to support community visits and outreach.
- A full driving license with unrestricted access to your own car.
- Ability to travel to various locations, including Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and Derby.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on empathy and validation.
- Experience of working with children and young people, preferably in a care or social work setting.
- Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and rights for all individuals associated with the service.
