About the Role

The British Science Association is seeking a highly skilled Community Engagement Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Community Engagement team, you will play a vital role in developing and delivering high-quality community engagement programs that promote public understanding and participation in science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Management
    • Develop and manage community engagement programs that align with the Association's mission and goals.
    • Collaborate with community organizers and researchers to design and deliver programs that promote public engagement with science.
  • Community Outreach and Partnerships
    • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations and stakeholders to promote the Association's programs and services.
    • Identify and develop new partnerships to support the growth of community engagement programs.
  • Capacity Building and Support
    • Provide capacity building and development support to community organizers and researchers to enhance their skills and knowledge in community engagement and science outreach.
    • Support the development of community-led research projects and initiatives.
  • Line Management and Team Support
    • Line manage a Community Engagement Officer and provide guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of community engagement programs.
    • Contribute to the development of the Community Engagement team's strategy and goals.
  • Reporting and Evaluation
    • Develop and implement evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of community engagement programs.
    • Provide regular reports to the Head of Community Engagement on program progress and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Experience and Skills
    • Proven experience in community engagement, public engagement with science, or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of community development principles and practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Education and Qualifications
    • Relevant degree in a field such as community development, public engagement with science, or a related field.
  • Language
    • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
