We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our Port Health Team at East Suffolk Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the protection of public and animal health by providing legislative advice and technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legislative advice and guidance on import controls and Port Health regulations
- Conduct technical audits and assessments to ensure compliance with regulations
- Design and implement policies and procedures to improve Port Health services
- Train and develop staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement changes to enhance Port Health services
- Extensive technical and legislative knowledge of Port Health regulations and import controls
- Experience of working in a technical port health role, with a strong understanding of import controls on Products of Animal Origin (POAO)
- Substantial experience working in a similar role, with a degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in Environmental Health or Veterinary Science
