Job Title: Senior Governance Officer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Governance Officer to join our team at the Somerset Drainage Boards Consortium. As a key member of our administration team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective governance and administration of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and manage the meetings calendar of the Boards and the Clerk/Chief Executive.
  • Ensure that all statutory, audit, and reporting dates are achieved.
  • Arrange public-facing and internal meetings, prepare the agenda, and ensure that minutes are made.
  • Act as a Deputy Returning Officer when Board Elections are held.
Requirements:
  • 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including maths and English.
  • Diploma or qualification in Business Studies or Business Administration (desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (WORD, OUTLOOK, POWERPOINT, and EXCEL).
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal, as well as précis skills.
  • Administration experience within an organisation.
  • Experience in the organisation of formal meetings, record-keeping, and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Understanding of the functions and legal framework of statutory public bodies.
Additional Requirements:
  • Familiarity with the Board's Health & Safety Policy and procedures.
  • Adherence to the Boards Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that training needs are identified and agreed with the Line Manager and reviewed annually.
  • Completion of all mandatory security training and compliance with the Board's security policies and procedures.
  • Valid in-date Full Driving Licence at all times.
