We are seeking a Mental Health Practitioner to join our CAMHS Children team in Hounslow, West London NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for embedding the Whole School Approach (WSA) through co-facilitating workshops for parents and staff, delivering targeted and universal groups to primary and secondary school pupils, and providing evidence-based interventions where possible.

The post holder will also be expected to support with service evaluations and audits of the interventions offered within the team, and preparation of data for quarterly data submissions. Additionally, there are opportunities to work on service development within the team, supporting the roll out of new approaches, and monitoring its impact.

The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people, and be able to communicate and relate well to children, young people, parents, and carers. They will also have the ability to present and communicate complex information, and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

The salary for this role is £42,939 to £50,697 per annum, inclusive of 15% HCAS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Embed the Whole School Approach (WSA) through co-facilitating workshops for parents and staff

Requirements:
  • Registered on the NMC register, parts RN3, RNMH or RN4
  • Mentorship/teaching and assessing qualification
  • First or higher degree in an appropriate subject area
  • Post-registration training in CAMHS
  • Evidence of accredited courses in child and adolescent mental health practice
Experience:
  • Demonstrable post-registration experience in mental health
  • Experience of assessment and working therapeutically with children, young people, and their families within a mental health setting
  • Experience of working in a number of ways, i.e., assertive outreach, clinic-based settings, home, school, or other appropriate environments
  • Experience of using therapeutic skills, such as CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Work
  • Experience of interagency and multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of assessing risk and formulating safe and effective risk management plans
  • Experience of teaching other professionals
  • Experience of management of child protection emergencies
  • Experience of therapeutic work with children and families where abuse or neglect has occurred
  • Experience of audit and/or research
  • Experience of contributing to and implementing new service developments
Knowledge/Skills:
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • The ability to present and communicate complex information
  • A thorough understanding of the mental health needs of children and young people
  • Ability to communicate and relate well to children, young people, parents, and carers
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and good practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development
  • An understanding of local and national issues relating to children's development and mental health
  • Understanding of the dynamics of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency team working
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Understanding of the value of service user involvement and participation in all aspects of care and in the planning and development of services
  • Skills and sensitivity in working with difficult-to-engage families
