About the Role
We are seeking a Sales Manager to join our team based in Bishopstoke, responsible for developing business opportunities in the UK & North European markets and handling sales activities for major power transmission cable projects.
As part of the commercial team, you will establish and nurture relationships with existing and new key customers, manage the sales process for project tenders, and lead multi-disciplined teams throughout the tendering, negotiation, and contract closing phases.
Projects typically involve turn-key high voltage cable systems, such as interconnectors between nations, links bringing electrical power to and from the mainland and islands, or between substation platforms at sea and the onshore power grid.
Responsibilities
- Identify and develop business opportunities in the market, from project initiation to contract closure.
- Coordinate offer preparation, leading the bid team and ensuring governance in commercial and risk management approach.
- Lead contract negotiations and coordinate offer clarifications with the wider team.
- Gain a detailed knowledge of the market, its characteristics, and trends, understanding clients, competitors, and other market stakeholders.
- Work closely with the regional Business Director to assess and prioritise opportunities, define achievable sales goals, and develop a deliverable business strategy.
- Implement sales strategies to achieve profitable business, ensure solid relationships with market stakeholders, and establish new revenue streams.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ideal education to degree level in a relevant business or engineering discipline.
- Sound understanding and experience in a project or solution sales environment.
- Preferably working experience or good understanding of the power transmission infrastructure business and familiarity with the cables industry.
- Experience in dealing with complex and high value turnkey/EPC bids.
- Strong business acumen or experience in developing relations with customers.
- Problem-solving attitude and target-oriented mentality that recognises and manages identified risks.
- Good communications skills, able to act as the company interface with customers and third parties.
- Pragmatic in setting and handling priorities effectively within a deadline-driven environment.
