We are recruiting for a Nuclear Safety Assessment Professional to join us permanently on our major projects.

**Job Purpose:**

The role involves the development of core nuclear criticality modeling and assessment capability, as well as delivery support to programs, projects, and Amentum UK growth aspirations.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Acting in any criticality role required for project support, assisting programme and project criticality leads where requested.
  • Nuclear criticality assessment, assisting the Head of Profession in capability development and establishment, and implementing resource strategies, recruitment plans, and competence.
  • Identifying, implementing, reviewing, and monitoring Amentum and program-specific management and technical arrangements to support delivery.
  • Preparing and coordinating assessment and analysis delivery for projects, interfacing with engineering, project management, project controls, and document management functions.
  • Advising Amentum leadership, engineering, program and project management, and clients on regulatory compliance, standards, and guidance.
  • Assisting safety case assurance through project, program, and corporate requirements.
  • Defining and developing interfaces between all related functions, including engineering and projects, to ensure work is delivered.
  • Supporting the client in interactions with regulators and safety committees.
  • Supporting Amentum business development function as required.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

  • Degree (or equivalent education) ideal.
  • Proven experience of nuclear fire safety assessment, principally nuclear safety assessment and conventional fire safety assessment and management.
  • Experience of application of codes and assessment in a wide range of operations and fault scenarios.
  • Experience in two or more UK Nuclear Site Licensee Organizations.
  • Knowledge of conventional fire safety assessment.
  • Experience of managing staff and contractors.
  • Knowledge of a range of nuclear hazard identification and analytical tools.
  • Solid understanding of UK nuclear site licensing, safety assessment principles, regulatory guidance on safety assessment, and nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory permissioning/flexible permissioning.
  • Ability to gain and retain Security Clearance and willingness to obtain Developed Vetting.
  • Travel will be required, for up to several days at a time in the UK and occasional overseas travel.
  • Supervisory experience and possess good oral and written communication skills, including presentation and report writing.

**Estimated Salary:** £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
